Ketki Prabhu grew up in a slum in Nagpur, losing her father at just nine years old and watching her mother struggle alone to provide for five children. Their small, overcrowded home offered little comfort against scorching summers and freezing winters, and yet Ketki refused to let hardship define her. Despite poverty, limited opportunities, and the weight of loss, she remained determined to continue her education and find a way forward.
Inspired by her sister’s success, Ketki pursued computer training, dedicating herself to learning and practicing new skills. Her hard work paid off when she secured a job in an architecture office, earning her first income and bringing relief and hope to her family. For the first time, she felt confident in her own abilities and she began to imagine a future beyond survival.
Ketki now dreams of further learning and long-term stability, hoping to lift her family out of poverty and ensure her younger siblings have greater opportunities. Even in the toughest circumstances, hope can take root, dignity can be restored and the future can be reshaped.
