For many rural youth, the lack of digital skills is no longer a small gap; it is a major barrier to opportunity. While jobs, education, communication, and business are increasingly moving online, countless young people still have limited or no access to computers, internet, or structured digital training. As a result, they are excluded from opportunities that could transform their futures.
Bright and ambitious youth finish school with dreams, but without the digital tools needed to compete in today’s job market. Some never get the chance to learn basic computer skills, apply for online jobs, or explore digital entrepreneurship.
This growing divide is limiting potential and widening inequality.
To respond to this urgent need, Development Alert is calling for support to establish a Digital Skills Lab in rural Uganda. This safe and accessible space will equip young people with essential digital skills—computer literacy, internet use, online communication, and opportunities for digital work.
This lab will not only teach skills—it will open doors. It will connect rural youth to the modern economy and give them a fair chance to compete, create, and thrive.
We invite you to join us in building this future.
Together, we can ensure that rural youth are not left behind in the digital age, but empowered to be part of it.
