In Uganda, over 73% of the population is under 30, yet many young people in rural areas finish school without ever using a computer. This project will establish a solar-powered Community IT Hub providing free computer access, internet, and digital skills training. With your support, over 400 youth and women will gain the tools to learn, work, and innovate in the digital economy.
Digital illiteracy is keeping Uganda's youth from opportunity. While mobile phones are common, only 10% of young people use ICT tools to explore online job opportunities. In rural districts, schools often lack computers, and many families cannot afford internet access. This gap leaves millions unprepared for modern employment - deepening poverty and inequality.
Our Community IT Hub will be powered by solar energy and equipped with 25 computers, high-speed internet, and trained local instructors. The hub will offer: -Free digital literacy, coding, and entrepreneurship courses --Mentorship from local tech professionals -Internet access for schoolwork and job applications -Support for young entrepreneurs starting digital businesses
Each year, more than 400 youth and women will gain digital skills that open the door to jobs, education, and online income.
