Dear friend of Karuna Germany,
From today until April 12th, GlobalGiving is matching your donation of up to $50 with 50%!
Please support today woman and girls in Nepal to overcome menstruation exile!
Read about Renuka who tells us how your doantion is helping:
Renuka attends the 9th grade of the Kada Bhawani School in the rural hill country of western Nepal. Here, deep-rooted cultural beliefs and taboos have long led to the exclusion and stigmatization of women and girls during their periods.
"Since the introduction of the Dignity for Women project, I have been trained as the leader of the Youth Girls' Club at my school. We meet once a month. At these meetings, we exchange ideas about everything that interests us. We discuss menstrual hygiene, child marriage, the abolition of Chhaupadi practices and children's rights. We have already become really self-confident!
The monthly meetings and trainings have given me the strength to fight the stigma of Chhaupadi practice and improve my personal hygiene. Now we girls can stay in our family's house during menstruation.
At school and at home, we can now use the toilets and sinks during our menstruation. That's a great relief!"
Please donate today and enable 50% extra support for the girls and women in Nepal!
