We are pleased to share an update on the Emergency Flood Relief Kits project aimed at supporting vulnerable families affected by recurring floods along Nigeria’s Niger River. The project has a total funding goal of $20,000, with all funds currently still required to fully launch implementation activities. At this stage, no donations have been received yet, and fundraising efforts remain a top priority to enable immediate progress.
Once funding begins, the first financial milestone will focus on procurement of essential relief materials including water purification tablets, mosquito nets, blankets, hygiene supplies, cooking utensils, and child wellness items such as oral rehydration salts. Additional funds will also be allocated toward secure elevated storage spaces, transportation logistics, volunteer training, and emergency distribution coordination.
Despite the current funding gap, planning activities are underway to ensure the project can move quickly once resources are secured. Vendor sourcing, community engagement, and volunteer mobilization preparations have started so that every dollar received can be efficiently utilized for timely impact.
With full funding, the project will provide 500 emergency flood relief kits, directly supporting approximately 3,000 people. Continued donor support is urgently needed to move from planning into action and ensure vulnerable families receive life-saving assistance before the next flood season begins.
