Because of the economic situation in Egypt and because single-income parents have to work two and three jobs, we had only two kids in our divorce care group this time.
Despite that, Samer (not his real name) realized for the first time that he was not to blame in any way for his parent's divorce.
He had been carrying so much guilt and shame, thinking that somehow he was to blame for his parent's divorce.
When the facilitator asked, "Were you there when your parents decided to get married?" and answered no, he realized that divorce was a grown-up decision that set him free.
Then, in the session on dealing with anger, he realized that he can still show his anger but in a way that is not detrimental to him or to others, which was a game changer for him.
