The lack of organizations and associations interested in the region and the mentioned baskets,  all of this motivated us to work on the subject of hygiene  baskets

The problem addressed by the project:

- Providing personal hygiene materials  improves the psychology of survivors and protects them  from skin diseases and protection from  parasitic crustacean infection after the earthquake

-  Their use of soap and special towels  reduces the risk of diarrheal, staphylococcus and other  diseases among families affected by the earthquake

            .

General Objective:

Maintaining health and preventing diseases for those affected by the earthquake

            Project Objectives

Improving mental health as a result of earthquake trauma for individuals along with physical health through the use of hygiene materials

Second specific special;

Awareness of  cholera diseases, its causes and ways to prevent it, especially after the increase in population density due to the earthquake and the lack or scarcity of health and hygiene means

Activities: Distribution of hygiene  baskets/ Distribution of brochures explaining prevention methods

-Desired results; Receiving 50 basket families/ Distribution of 50 brochures

Means of checking indicators:

-          Indicators of achievement for results and their unit of measurement

General information:

Project 3 Summary

On February 6, 2023, at 4:17, northern Syria and Turkey were subjected to a devastating earthquake that killed more than 51,000 in Turkey and Syria, and the number of victims in northern Syria reached 5,914 victims. The number of buildings completely damaged was 1,678 buildings, and the number of partially damaged buildings was 5,588, according to the Support Coordination Unit. Of the number of cities that were damaged, 137 towns, 7 of which are considered to be afflicted, namely Jindires - Salqin - Bsinia - Harem - Atareb - Armanaz - Deir Hassan

We worked through the project to mitigate the effects of the earthquake shock and secure the neediest families of those affected by the earthquake, so we worked to target the families who survived the earthquake, who lost one of their members and have injured in this disaster and who could not secure the necessities of life for them and their children, as women affected by the earthquake were targeted and are now residing in temporary shelters.

In the areas of Maarat Misrin and the Foah area

We chose these areas after our team monitored the needs of this area, where we found a number of temporary shelters that are not supported and they need humanitarian assistance, and when our team monitored the nature of the need, we told the affected women that they received food assistance, but they still need some special needs for women (Baskets  of Dignity)

In these areas, we monitored 43 families of those affected, including 15 teenage girls, who are more in need than their peers.

One family will be supported by a women’s basket (Karama basket)

We will also provide earthquake preparedness training to survivors in those areas.

Project Duration: 5 Days

Project Implementation Site: Maarat Misrin City

Budget (USD)1000

Beneficiaries:

Direct beneficiaries: 40 women

15 15 – 18 years old

25 women aged 20 – 40 years

Indirect beneficiaries: Families of these women

Context:

The northern region of Syria is confronted with a significant population density, with over 4 million individuals residing in a limited geographical area. Unfortunately, the area suffers from a scarcity of economic resources and is burdened by high levels of poverty, with rates exceeding 90% in these regions. Despite already grappling with the ravages of war, the recent earthquake catastrophe has exacerbated the situation, particularly for women residing in displacement camps.

The earthquake has led to an influx of new women seeking refuge in ill-equipped shelters due to the fear of their homes collapsing after sustaining damage from the earthquake. In response, our project aims to alleviate the impact of this disaster on affected women, enabling them to resume their lives as normally as possible while alleviating a fraction of their essential needs.

The problem addressed by the project.

The primary issue at hand is the occurrence of a natural disaster that has resulted in the immediate and emergency displacement of numerous women from their homes to shelter centers, in order to safeguard their lives.

The problem arises from the lack of adequate support measures for women affected by the earthquake. The current support, mainly in the form of food supplies, fails to address the basic necessities of women in forced displacement.

To address this, it is recommended to implement a solution that involves the distribution of women's baskets. These baskets would contain essential items catered specifically to the needs of women in displacement, including general hygiene tools and other necessities required for their daily lives.

Overall Objective

Reducing the shock effects of the earthquake on women affected by the earthquake

Special Goal Specific:

-          Providing in-kind assistance to girls and women who survived the earthquake

-          Increasing women's awareness of how to prepare for natural disasters.

Activities:

-          Distributing baskets of dignity to 40 beneficiaries

-          Training on how to prepare during natural disasters

Desired results:

-          40women and girls received in-kind assistance for the most important needs of women within the dignity basket

-          20 women have become more knowledgeable about how to act in the event of a natural disaster or earthquake

Indicators of achievement for results and their unit of measurement:

-          Number of women who received dignity and training baskets

N Means of checking indicators number of brochures

-          Copies of invoices - lists of beneficiaries

-          Invoice photos – informed consent – videos

-          Photos – Beneficiary Lists

-          Photos-Attendance Record
