Dear Friends,
The music program has had a busy Spring! As the students take their final exams, we had the opportunity this past weekend to bring everyone together across our programming as our music students performed for the students in our tutoring and art program in the nearby town of Son Tan. Part of a larger event to celebrate the graduating class of our Spring tutoring program in Son Tan, the performance was preceded by playtime and fun as some of our music students helped organize games with the younger girls from the art program and joined them in eating a lovely meal together afterwards. The event ended with the music concert as the art and tutoring students listened to the performance. Between the smiles and the laughter, the music and the games, it was heartwarming to watch the RPS community come together across our different programs, ages, and locales.
The music students are currently in the process of gearing up for a concert next week at the local high school’s prom in Cam Duc. Strolling up to the school most nights a week, you can hear the sounds of violins from the street as light pours out of the wide-open doors. Past the upper-level art classes, the music students practice together in the next room as they prepare for their upcoming performance. The students are very excited, and it shows!
The guitar class is also moving along. A few nights a week, the guitar students get together in the school and play sitting in a circle. On cool evenings after hot days as summer comes rolling in, their strumming and laughter are soothing to the ears. Most every night of the week, the music program lights up the school with sound, so it is always a lively and welcoming place for our students.
Thank you to all of you who continue to support our music program!
