Water Quality Marking
Water Quality Marking

It’s story of my village Hassan Ali which is a residence of around 117 women, men and children. This village has been adversely affected by flood of 2022 and whole community been displaced and been on upper edge of the road for more than two and half months. The house collapsed and whole infrastructure been damaged including the drinking water source i.e. the hand pumps. In this situation women, person with disability and elderly persons headed households been in suffering more. In rural areas, mostly women and girls do fetch water for routine use and the purpose of drinking. The same practice is common in village Hassan Ali but it was too difficult for women and girls and whole community as the hand pumps been damaged in the village and there have been issue to have clean drinking water.

The 2nd week of this November, ARTS Foundation installed 3 hand pumps in the village as the village having a serious issue regarding the availability of drinking water. The habitats in these regions had several diseases caused by the pollution of ponds and streams. This meant that the water that was available to drink was also polluted. The population of this area were also struggling with financial burdens of purchasing water, as well as the physical burden of fetching drinking water from distant areas.

They could not afford to install pumps themselves to access drinking water and therefore the village communities approached to ARTS Foundation to provide hand pumps.  Mr. Hassan, an elder of the village said that due to lack of clean water, we were forced to drink contaminated water from the pond which is highly contaminated and its water was causing increased number of diarrhea among children in particular.

Indeed, we are very thankful to ARTS Foundation team who came in our area and provided us the facility of community level hand pumps but ARTS Foundation not only provided hand pumps but checked the water quality and painted the color as per National Water Policy and marked TDS as well. Therefore, thanks to ARTS Foundation and GlobalGiving for this support as it has been made possible through online philanthropy.
