Thanks for supporting Korka's Dreams!

Friends,

Korka Diouf dreams of becoming a successful entrepreneur. A member of the agricultural cooperative in Ouarkhokh, Korka is “very proud of all the activities that I participate in here in my community, especially the market gardening.”  She hopes to leverage the economic and horticultural skills that she has gained through participating in CREATE! training programs to expand her fruit juicing business.

Thanks to your generous support, women like Korka will be able to save money, time, and labor through efficient water use in their cooperative garden.  Your donations helped us raise over $5,000 on the March 18 GlobalGiving Bonus Day! We are now closer to our goal of installing a drip irrigation network to help Ouarkhokh cooperative members fully exploit the land in their garden through year-round irrigated agriculture.

Since March, the agricultural cooperative in Ouarkhokh has continued to plant, tend, and harvest vegetables. All of their hard work is only possible because women spend hours every day watering the garden by hand as Senegal enters its annual dry season. In March, the cooperative harvested more than 800 pounds of eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, African eggplants, onions, and sweet potatoes. Think of what more these women could accomplish with the addition of a drip irrigation system in part of their garden site! They are so excited that drip irrigation will help them save time and labor while increasing their vegetable production.

CREATE!’s beneficiaries truly appreciate your donation to help them on their way to economic self-sufficiency! So what’s next?  We would love to have you get more involved with CREATE! Send an email to kaitlyn@createaction.org and I will let you know all the different ways that you can help out! Be sure to stay updated with what’s going on with CREATE! by signing up for our email list, becoming our friend on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and checking out our blog!

Best wishes,
