Friends,

“We live in this community that has neither factories nor jobs to employ the youth or generate money to support our families. Our children abandon the village and go into exile to other countries in search of better living conditions.”  Ndeye, who is part of the Ouarkhokh garden cooperative, appreciates the agricultural training she has received from CREATE! field technicians because the training provides both skills and job options for her and for young people in her community. “I am very thankful that I now have the opportunity to support my husband and children.”

Today, you have the opportunity to improve Ndeye’s life. For today only, GlobalGiving is matching new donations to this project at 50%! Imagine – your donation of $100 today will become $150 that CREATE! can use to install a drip irrigation network to help Ouarkhokh cooperative members fully exploit the land in their garden through year-round irrigated agriculture. With your donation today, we can reach our goal and help women like Ndeye save money, time, and labor through efficient water use.

Since April, the agricultural cooperative in Ouarkhokh has continued to plant, tend, and harvest vegetables. Fruitful harvests remain a possibility because women spend hours every day watering the garden by hand even as temperatures hover well over 100 degrees F. In May, the cooperative harvested nearly 600 pounds of eggplants, peppers, turnips, and onions. Think of what more these women could accomplish with the addition of a drip irrigation system in part of their garden site! They are so excited that drip irrigation will help them save time and labor while increasing their vegetable production.

CREATE!’s beneficiaries truly appreciate your donation to help them on their way to economic self-sufficiency! So what’s next?  We would love to have you get more involved with CREATE! Send an email to kaitlyn@createaction.org and I will let you know all the different ways that you can help out!
