Friends,

“By working in the CREATE! garden, I can now take care of my family.” Soda, who is part of the Ouarkhokh garden cooperative, is thankful for the agricultural training she has received from CREATE! field technicians because she now has the skills she needs to earn a livelihood. “Because our community is located next to the highway, it is easy to sell vegetables,” Soda adds. “My family now has access to healthy, local food and I can take care of our daily living expenses.”

With your support, CREATE! can install a drip irrigation network to help Ouarkhokh cooperative members fully exploit the land in their garden through year-round irrigated agriculture. This week, make an ongoing commitment to women like Soda. For this week only, GlobalGiving is matching new recurring donations at 100%! To make a recurring donation, click here: http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/drip-irrigation-for-garden-in-ouarkhokh-senegal/?show=recurring. To thank you for your commitment, every new recurring donation of $25 or more to this project will receive a screen-printed CREATE! tote bag! After you donate, send us an email with your mailing address to claim your free gift.

Since July, the agricultural cooperative in Ouarkhokh has continued to plant, tend, and harvest vegetables. Fruitful harvests remain a possibility because women spend hours every day watering the garden by hand. In August, the cooperative harvested eggplants, peppers, okra, and hibiscus. Think of what more these women could accomplish with the addition of a drip irrigation system in part of their garden site!  Your donation can help women like Soda save money, time, and labor through efficient water use. A drip irrigation system will help Soda expand vegetable production and earn even more money to support her family.

CREATE!’s beneficiaries truly appreciate your donation to help them on their way to economic self-sufficiency! So what’s next?  We would love to have you get more involved with CREATE! Send an email to kaitlyn@createaction.org and I will let you know all the different ways that you can help out! Be sure to stay updated with what’s going on with CREATE! by signing up for our email list, becoming our friend on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and checking out our blog!

Best wishes,

Kaitlyn
