Their Hearts Are Full
Ephraim
A New Year message from our founder:
Looking back to 2013 when I was in Rwanda and feeling compelled to find a way to make a difference for Rwandans who needed encouragement and hope,
I never imagined that 10 years later we would now congratulate our first high school graduates who succeeded as a result of our education program.
Rwanda-one4one has grown from supporting 4 school children to 26.
Ephraim and Sandrine joined our program starting in 2015, each worked very hard through daily hardships and sacrifices because they wanted to excel.
They both graduated in the top 10% of their class and are now waiting for the exam results of their applications to the University of Rwanda.
Each student in our education program is a blessing, I know them personally, and they are working so hard to achieve their best results.
So much credit goes to the parents who know how important an education means to their future.
Not all children are destined to be scholars yet it is vital we find ways to bring out the best in each student whether it is a focus on the sciences, mathematics, languages or art.
Manasse has always wanted to be an artist since I met him in 2014. He struggled through high school but he always found his peace in the arts. We are now funding art lessons for him so that he can find his way with what he loves. I have attached a photo of him with one of the paintings he did in class.
Brian is just beginning school. At 3 years old, the kids start attending school.
He is a bright boy, his parents are so grateful for the support we are providing and do their part to encourage him to study hard.
His older sister, Guillene is in our education program.
Benoni is still in high school, doing well yet early in 2022 he was playing soccer and the ball hit him in the face and broke his front tooth.
When I saw him this April, his smile was so big but he was self-conscious and made every attempt to keep his lips closed for smiles.
Part of what Rwanda-one4one focuses on is medical concerns and we hope to get Benoni's tooth repaired before he suffers from latent infection.
He is a handsome young man and he needs his health and pride back.
There are so many stories I could share of their trials, despair and hope.
Yet through it all we have brought hope and strength to their challenges and triumphs.
Thank you for allowing being part of this journey in Rwanda.
It hasn't always been easy but it has been true to life, exhilarating, raw, heart wrenching, and most of all uplifting.
It all makes a beautiful difference.
Happy New Year!
