Axi 's Road to Rebirth - Miracles Happen with Early Treatment Services Axi was originally a healthy child, but at the age of one, he contracted a hemophagocytic virus and was once critically ill. After being in a coma for half a month, he was saved, but the brain damage left him unable to walk or speak, and he cannot call out “Mom” or “Dad.”
Axi’s illness changed the life of a once-happy family. To fully care for Axi and his newborn baby sister, Axi’s father bravely quit his stable job as a chef and started a street stall business to support Axi’s rehabilitation journey. By chance, Axi’s mother came to know Eden Foundation and joined the Keelung Service Center, where they began receiving “home-based therapy” services.
After one semester, Axi, who could previously only crawl on the floor, began to stand and walk, even jumping around like other children. His language skills also showed significant improvement. What made his mother happiest was that Axi’s ability to self-regulate his emotions had also gotten better.“When I took him out and saw him quietly tell his favorite toy car, ‘The teacher said I can’t buy it,’ I was really touched!” his mother said with tears in her eyes. These changes were all brought about by the services from Eden Foundation.
