Dear One,
I am pleased to report that our relief operation for the earthquake-affected people in Herat province of Afghanistan has begun. Our volunteers thoroughly assessed 21 families' needs in the area. They also consulted with the families about their preferences and priorities. Based on their feedback, we procured heating material and food supplies for eight families for the first delivery. And for the second delivery, we delivered food supplies to an additional thirteen families. We will continue to meet with more families in the area and respond to their needs, including construction materials.
I want to share the story of one of the families, Sediqa, who is a widow and has one daughter and one son.
She earns around 100 Afs or $1.36 per day from embroidery to support her family. Their house was completely destroyed, and one organization came to help them with the reconstruction, but it still needs to be completed.
Sidiqa says, “I was terrified. We have never experienced an earthquake like this before. When the first earthquake happened, I grabbed my children and went outside very quickly. My son, who is seven years old, was so shocked that he couldn’t speak afterward, and now he is stuttering, and I don’t know what to do about that. And then the second earthquake hit, which destroyed our house, and we had to put a tent, out of large rice bags, outside to live in.”
Most of the families are in the same situation as Sidiqa. We are committed to identifying the most vulnerable families. Please follow our social media for more updates.
We are deeply grateful for your generous donation and assistance to the families who suffered from the devastating earthquake. Your kindness and compassion have made a difference in their lives and helped them cope with this difficult situation. We appreciate your support and commitment to our cause.
