Kenbe Fem- Standing Strong for Haiti

By Marie-Rose Romain Murphy | Servant Leader

Friends, Zanmi nou,

Thank you for your support for Haiti and for the communities that we serve. The situation in Haiti, as you may know, has never been so dire. However, although the media does not show what Haitians are doing for Haiti, there is much going on. Haitians in Haiti and Haitians living abroad are working together to support communities and help them move forward.

The Grand Sud, the Southern Peninsula that our organization serves is a critical region for Haiti’s food security and its environment. It’s been unfortunately greatly affected by recent disasters (at the end of 2016 and in 2021). We started this campaign to work with our communities after the 2021 earthquake. We have helped with immediate needs and worked on reconstruction. Your support has been key as a community investment in our short-term work and our communities’ longer term goals.

The challenge for us at this moment is fighting the complex humanitarian crises that our country faces and work with our communities so that they don’t fall behind and don’t get trapped in the downward spiral of extreme poverty and constant food insecurity.

We are part of a coalition of organizations working on the economic development of the Southern Peninsula. “L ’union fait la force”/ Unity begets strength (see photos). We are also working on more effective solutions to the water access issues that plague our communities and lead to health, safety, and food security issues (as it affects farmers’ crops and animals).

Please watch for our upcoming new campaign at the end of April and support it.

Thank you again for your solidarity! Mèsi anpil anpil!

Marie-Rose, on behalf of the Haiti Community Foundation Network
