“Your timely support comes at a critical moment as the Ebola outbreak continues to evolve in Ituri, where urgent community needs remain significant. Please convey our sincere gratitude to the entire GlobalGiving team and your generous donors. Your continued partnership gives hope to the communities we serve and strengthens locally led emergency response efforts.”

These words come from Yatosha Services Foundation, a grantee who recieved a second flexible grant from our Ebola Crisis Relief Fund for their disease prevention and aid efforts.

Their message is a reminder that your generosity is already reaching communities facing this ongoing crisis. Since our last update, our team has continued to mobilize your support to vetted nonprofits in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. These partners have the proximity, local knowledge, and trusted relationships to mobilize assistance quickly to populations who may be otherwise overlooked.

Across the DRC and Uganda, here are a few examples of how your support is at work:

  • Action et Developpement des Handicapés au Congo (ADHC) is distributing hygiene kits and Ebola prevention materials with a focus on people with disabilities, unsheltered people, and their families. Dedicated to disability rights, inclusive education, and protections for people with disabilities during health crises, ADHC was able to jump into its response quickly and continue to advocate for the most at-risk.
  • Inuka Relief is equipping health workers with protective gear, installing isolation units in high-risk health zones, rehabilitating an Ebola Treatment Center, and supporting survivors with food kits. Inuka is also partnering with local radio stations, journalists, and faith leaders to deliver trusted Ebola awareness and prevention messages.
  • Mbara Rising Foundation is distributing handwashing supplies and hygiene kits to vulnerable individuals and households, as well as working closely with community leaders, health workers, and local stakeholders to promote accurate health information, encourage regular handwashing, and combat misinformation and stigma.

As you can see, your support of the Ebola Crisis Relief Fund powers robust, community-led responses when and where they are needed most. Your donations enable local organizations to respond quickly as the outbreak evolves while helping people affected by Ebola access the care, resources, and support they need to recover.

We can never say thank you enough.

With gratitude,

Kyra + the GlobalGiving team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
