Dear friends,
We have a few pieces of heartening news to share with you this time as well! OBAT began a new preschool center at Baganbari Segun Bagan, an area close to our existing preschools. More friends for our students to hang out and have fun with!
Our preschoolers take exams too! Yes, they are so little but that’s a standard practice in Bangladesh. Their results were published in July and we are so proud to let you know that they performed really well.
During July, OBAT’s Chittagong team organized a teachers training of all preschool teachers at the local office. Sohail Akhter Khan, OBAT’s Project Manager, initiated the training. Mrs. Samim Nighat continued the training and Mr. Mostak led the arts and crafts training.
Due to the continual training received by our teachers, it is no surprise then that the students do very well. One of the bright students at our preschool, Sagor, was keen to share his story with you:
Sagor is a student of OBAT Preschool in Halishaher. His father, Ratan, is a day laborer and mom, Laila, is a house wife. Sagor has a sister as well and the four of them live in a rented makeshift hut beside the canal. In his half yearly exams, Sagor achieved an A+ grade in every subject test. When we asked him what he wanted to be in the future, he said, “I want to be a civil engineer.” Sagor likes to eat rice and fish. His favorite sport is football and he loves the color yellow. Sagor likes to wear new clothes. The best thing he likes is to get a good and soundless sleep at night. The best way he likes to spend his time is by playing at the beach.
With your support for children like Sagor, we have been able to achieve 14% of our fundraising goal. You can be the best advocate for these children’s future. Pick up your phone or type an email to tell a friend about this project or better still, use your social media presence to tell your friends about these precious children whose futures depend on people like us.
Until next time!
Cheers!
Your OBAT family.
