Dear OBAT Family,
Happy New Year!
As we embark on new adventures, aspirations, and goals, we are reminded that there is still so much work to be done. Together, we celebrate the New Year’s possibilities and hope that we can rise to the challenge together and help those who need it most. One thing we know for sure is that we are ready to take on 2022!
As always, there is good news to bring to you from OBAT’s Chittagong Preschool. And that is only because of the kindness of supporters like you who believe in making the world a better place by providing early education to young children.
The annual sports day and cultural program was held in early December. The students participated in different sports events and performed cultural dances. A fancy dress competition drew a lot of excitement and participation. At the end of the exciting program, prizes were distributed among the lucky winners.
The final exam results from 2021 were announced in January of this year. No surprise here but 90% of the 208 students who took the exam excelled with an A+, A- or an A grade! The little ones are hardworking for sure but their teachers are no less dedicated and committed to teaching them. Hats off to the teachers, one of whom is in charge of each of the nine preschools in Chittagong. Congrats to them and their young students!
It would be hard to fit in the 208 students here so we are giving you a peek into the life of one of the young students.
Meet Tamjid!
“My name is Tamjid. I am a student at OBAT Preschool. I am five years old. There are four people in my family. My father is a day laborer and works as a mason; he is 30 years old. He doesn’t get a job all the time and has to stay home some days. My mother's name is Sajia; she looks after us. We are one brother and one sister. My sister's name is Sanjida; she is one year old. We live in Halishahar, Chittagong. As my father’s job cannot take care of us, I live with my grandmother. I love all my family very much.
I like to play with toys and eat meat. I like the color, yellow. I also like to eat jackfruit. I want to be a good police officer when I grow up."
Hope you enjoyed getting to know Tamjid. We will keep introducing more students with each update so that you can get to know all of them better.
We hope that this new year brings you much joy and health and keeps you and your loved ones safe.
Thank you for walking with us in 2021. Here’s to treading 2022 with you!
Warmly,
OBAT team
