Dear friends,
With summer coming to a close here, our preschoolers are back to school too to continue their fun-filled learning. In fact, they dove right into it by taking some tests recently. It must be a surprise for you to know that kids as young as preschoolers in some areas of the world take tests too. Well, we can tell you by their results that they are a smart bunch indeed. The kids learn in a fun environment and absorb a lot during play time as well. That motivates them to come to school every day and to do well in their tests.
The preschool also got visited by Mr. Saiful. He is an international analyst who has been hired to evaluate the entire education program of OBAT. He has worked with JAICA (Japanese Agency for International Cooperation), Save the Children and DFID (Dept. for International Development in UK’s government). Mr. Saiful interviewed the teachers and spoke with the students. We are hoping to benefit greatly from his findings and to incorporate his recommendations for improvements to make our preschool program better and more effective.
One of the precious kids at the preschool wanted to tell you about herself. Here is her story in her own words:
"My name is Sairun. I study in OBAT’s Preschool in Chittagong. My father’s name is Md. Sohail . He sells toys. My mother’s name is Nazma Begum; she helps my father out by making paper bags at home and selling them. We are seven members in our family- five sisters and one brother. My brother is a student of class eight. One of my sisters studies in grade four at OBAT’s SB Nagar School and another sister studies in grade five in UCEF School, Ambagan.
My parents work very hard so they can take care of our family. They love me very much. In my school, my teachers love us very much too. I like my school and have fun in my class. I like to play “Toll Toll,” it’s a Bengali game for children.
I like to eat ice cream and red is my favorite color. When I grow up, I want to become a doctor.”
