lndian Association for the Blind (lAB),based in Madurai, South India, is a well-known non-profit
organization working at the grassroots level for the education, employment and rehabilitation of people with
visual challenges. It was established in 1985 by visually challenged activist Late Mr. S.M.A.Jinnah and a group of like-minded visually challenged people to provide comprehensive education, employment and
rehabilitation opportunities for socio-economically disempowered visually challenged children and adults with a special focus on those living in rural areas.
The donations we received from donors through GlobalGiving have really been very useful for us in conforming to our standards of providing quality education, training, employment and rehabilitation facilities for the visually impaired form rural areas. This timely help from your side has proved very helpful to us.
A total of 50 beneficiaries have been benefited through GlobalGiving. Using the donations we received, we were able to provide Braille books and other study materials individually for each of them, as it was previously provided to them on a sharing basis. We are happy to bring about a change through this cause, by increasing the standard of education.
