Dear Supporters,
We’re thrilled to share an inspiring story that reflects the real impact of your generous contributions.
Meet Perikala Sunil, a determined 16-year-old from the village of Pedakaragraharam. Sunil grew up in a family of daily wage laborers, where every rupee earned counted toward basic survival. His dreams of continuing his education were dashed when he failed his 10th grade exams. With no financial cushion, a second attempt felt impossible. Sunil was forced to set aside his textbooks and start working, following in his parents’ footsteps.
But this is where your support helped change a life.
When our CRY UK project team learned about Sunil’s situation and the risk of him becoming a long-term child labourer, they stepped in. Our team reached out to his family and initiated multiple rounds of counseling, patiently emphasizing that one academic setback should not define a child’s future.
Initially hesitant, Sunil’s parents slowly began to see the value in giving their son a second chance. With continued follow-ups and community engagement, we were able to reinstate Sunil’s educational journey.
With academic mentoring from peers and emotional support from our project staff, Sunil not only found the courage to reappear for his exams, he passed with flying colours. Today, Sunil is a proud student pursuing intermediate education at a private school.
Through the project, Sunil also received help in accessing government financial aid, easing the burden on his family and allowing him to focus on his studies.
Your support made this possible, not just in Sunil’s life, but in the lives of many other children at risk of losing their right to education.
Thank you for standing with us.
With gratitude,
The CRY UK Team
