We are thrilled to update you on the recent impactful strides made by CCI. Amidst soaring commodity prices and a deepening sense of hopelessness among the poor, our Christmas food project brought hope and joy to families.
In closing out 2023 on a positive note, we successfully reached 500 families in two marginalized communities, where the cost of basic necessities had doubled. We provided each family with a 10kg bag of rice, a vital staple in Nigerian households, ensuring that they had ample food for the holiday season.
Also, in our ongoing efforts to alleviate the plight of the underprivileged, CCI has been actively supporting education for community children and providing essential resources to both children and their families. Our overarching goal is to foster sustainable economic empowerment for indigent people. Therefore, as part of our year-end project, we constructed and donating a block of shops to a rural village community in Umuahia.
This initiative serves a dual purpose—contributing to community development and empowering women in the village economically. The shops offer a secure space for women to engage in and grow small retail businesses, for sustainable income. Furthermore, the revenue generated from subsidized shop rents, now fully owned by the community, contributes to ongoing community development initiatives.
Lastly, our mobile children's library continues to be a beacon of learning for local children. Access to a variety of reading books has sparked a love for reading among children, providing them with an opportunity to develop their minds. The library's impact is evident as children eagerly check out one book each week, and for many, the library hour has become the highlight of their week.
All of these achievements have been made possible through the generous contributions of individuals like you. Your support has played a crucial role in alleviating the hardships faced by the underprivileged in the Ikota slum community. By focusing on education and sustainable economic empowerment, we are making a tangible difference—one life, one family, and one community at a time.
