Project Update: Impacting Lives in the Last Quarter

By Ijeoma Ezeagwula | Director of Programs and Community Engagement

Happy New Year! As we step into 2025 with hope and determination, we take a moment to reflect on the incredible strides made in the last quarter of 2024, all thanks to your unwavering support and generosity.

Nigeria continues to grapple with multi-dimensional poverty, rising inflation, and severe hunger. Many families struggle to secure even one meal a day. Amid these challenges, we are overjoyed to share the positive strides made in closing out 2024 on a high note.

With your support, we successfully reached 350 families in two marginalized, indigent communities. Our Christmas outreach focused on the elderly and the most vulnerable, providing food boxes filled with a variety of groceries. These provisions enabled families to prepare several meals during the festive season. Witnessing the joy and relief on the faces of the elderly—many of whom not only fend for themselves but also care for their grandchildren—was truly heartwarming.

Our Mobile Library: A Beacon of Learning and Joy
The mobile children’s library continues to ignite a love for reading and serves as a beacon of hope and learning. For many children, the arrival of the library truck is as exciting as the sight of an ice cream truck. Access to a variety of books has sparked a passion for reading, with children eagerly checking out one book each week. This initiative has become a highlight of their week, nurturing their minds and imaginations in profound ways.

Empowering Futures Through Education
Last year, our scholarship program awarded three new university scholarships, bringing the total number of scholars to seven. These promising scholars are not only excelling academically but are also inspired to give back to their community. Their commitment to creating a better future is a testament to the transformative power of education.

Gratitude for Your Support
None of these achievements would be possible without the generous contributions of individuals like you. Your support has been instrumental in alleviating the hardships faced by underprivileged families in the Ikota slum community. Together, we are creating tangible change—one life, one family, one community at a time.

A Reminder for U.S. Donors
If you are in the United States, your gifts through GlobalGiving are tax-deductible. You can conveniently access your tax receipt by logging into your account.

Thank you for partnering with us to create positive change and provide hope for a brighter future.
