Educate girls and fight poverty in Kenya

Thanks to your generous support, we are serving 332 girls in rural Kenya with comprehensive school scholarships this year (and 1,100+ girls when including our Senegal program)! These scholarships cover school fees, supplies, school uniforms, food, menstrual products, and exam fees. Additionally, WGEP  scholars participate in mentoring meetings throughout the school year to support their academic success and personal development. 

The 2023 school year began in January and will run through November, when students will take their national exams to advance to their next year of school. Within the school year, there are three terms. Our most recent scholar meeting was in April, to celebrate the end of first term and to prepare girls for their second term! Scholars came together to discuss highs and lows, have fun, and learn from our team members like Dorcas (pictured wearing a pink shirt), who graduated university with the support of WGEP in 2019, and now gives back to her community as a full-time Outreach Officer!

Our holistic program model works– over 99% of our scholars stay in school each year– in  remote, rural regions where fewer than 15% of girls graduate high school.
