Thanks to your generous support, our ongoing efforts in Tharaka North Subcounty have yielded commendable progress across various initiatives. The Child Molding Clubs (CMCs) continue to thrive, engaging pupils from upper classes in 12 primary schools. These clubs, encourage collaboration and discussion on topics like conservation, gender equity, and entrepreneurship. For 2023, we hope to reach 513 Girls (+13%) and 455 Boys (+15%) through this program.
Our community engagement sessions with Gakauni and Karethani leaders were successful, creating awareness about the upcoming remedial reading program. Both communities pledged support for foundational literacy. Adult literacy classes in 23 centers have empowered women through reading, numeracy, and digital skills, coupled with table banking activities.
The Hope for the Girls @ VISA program celebrates academic achievements and mentorship impact. Dignity pack distribution and parent outreach underline our commitment to holistic empowerment. Our USAID/ASHA Award project advances, while our broader program interventions have recorded impressive growth. These accomplishments bolster our resolve to foster education, empowerment, and lasting change in the region.
Our holistic program model works– over 99% of our scholars stay in school each year– in remote, rural regions where fewer than 15% of girls graduate high school. Your continued support is critical to the success of this program and the girls we serve. We are grateful for your ongoing commitment to breaking down barriers and expanding opportunities for girls in Kenya. Together, we are creating a brighter future where every girl can decide for herself what her future holds!
