It is common knowledge that girls in urban areas of Tanzania are eight times more likely to finish secondary education than girls in rural areas mainly due to extreme poverty and limited infrastructural development in rural areas.
Also, according to UNICEF, Girls, the poorest children, children with disabilities, and children living in underserved communities in Tanzania are most vulnerable to dropping out of school or never going to school. Early marriage and pregnancy keep girls out of school. Adolescent pregnancy led to almost 3,700 girls dropping out of primary and secondary education in 2016. More than one-third of all girls are married by the age of 18, but girls from poor families are twice as likely to be married early than girls from wealthier homes.
During the period under review, the organization provided tuition fees, school uniforms, shoes, books to 10 primary and secondary school girls in the Arusha rural community in Tanzania. Funds raised through the GlobalGiving platform have enabled us provide additional books and other school supplies for 10 of these girls.
We continue to thank and appreciate our partners and friends who donated their hard-earned cash towards this project. Please be rest assured that through your generous support, you're positively impacting the lives of young gilrls in Arusha, Tanzania.
