Educate Hausa Girl in Nigeria & Give Her a Future!

Summary

In Northern Nigeria, only 44% of girls complete primary school, and many drop out due to poverty, early marriage, and lack of school materials. This project provides tuition support, learning materials, and mentorship for 4,850 Hausa girls aged 8-15, giving them the opportunity to continue their education safely. With immediate funding, these girls can attend school uninterrupted this year, reducing dropout rates and opening pathways for further learning and skills development.

Challenge

Many Hausa girls in Northern Nigeria face barriers to education. Poverty forces families to prioritize boys, and cultural pressures push girls into early marriage. Schools often lack basic materials, and tuition costs are unaffordable. As a result, girls miss years of schooling, limiting their future income and independence. Without timely intervention, these girls risk remaining out of school entirely, continuing cycles of poverty and limiting opportunities for personal and community growth.

Solution

This project provides tuition support, school supplies, and mentorship for 4,850 Hausa girls. Each girl receives uniforms, textbooks, and learning tools to reduce dropout risks. Regular mentorship sessions reinforce the importance of education and life skills. By removing financial and material barriers, the project enables girls to stay in school this academic year, complete assignments, and participate fully in classroom and other academic activities.

Long-Term Impact

Girls who complete their education are more likely to earn income, delay marriage, and contribute to their communities. Supporting 4,850 Hausa girls can break cycles of poverty within their families and encourage peers to continue schooling. Educated girls tend to invest in healthcare, literacy, and education for their siblings. This project could increase school enrollment rates, improve literacy levels, and create role models for other girls.
