There are always many children waiting in line to go to school since it is a luxury in Liberia. Girl Power Africa supports as many children as possible but ouir limited resources olly allow us to enroll 585 students per year. Once a student is admitted, they are able to continue as long as their sponsor or a new sponsor continues to donate $110 oer year and the student continues to regularly attend school and progress.
There are quarterly reports conducted by Girl Power Africa that assess the attendance and progress of students. Children enroll from age 5 to age 18 with some children first getting into school at 15 or 16 and being guided through a first grade program. The goal is for all children to learn enough to become self-sufficient running their lives and a business/job.
Is is heartbreaking having to turn children away every yeae as there are never enough resources. Girl Power Africa knows that breaking the cycle of poverty through education is often the only option for most children.
