School Enrollment Support for Rural Orphans
We are pleased to share progress from our ongoing project to support orphaned children in rural Uganda through access to education. During this reporting period, we successfully identified and enrolled vulnerable orphaned children who had previously been unable to attend school due to financial hardship. Many of these children had lost one or both parents and were living with elderly grandparents or guardians who struggled to meet their educational needs.
Through donor support, we provided school fees, uniforms, exercise books, pens, and other essential learning materials. The provision of these resources enabled children to begin the school term with confidence and dignity. Teachers reported improved attendance rates among supported learners, with many students attending classes consistently for the first time in several months.
Community meetings were also conducted to raise awareness about the importance of education and child protection. Guardians expressed gratitude for the support, noting that it relieved a significant financial burden and allowed them to focus on providing emotional care for the children.
Several beneficiaries shared their dreams of becoming teachers, nurses, and engineers. Their renewed hope demonstrates the transformative impact of education. Despite challenges such as rising education costs and transportation difficulties in remote villages, the project continues to make a meaningful difference.
We remain committed to ensuring that every orphaned child has access to quality education. Thank you to all GlobalGiving donors whose generosity is helping create brighter futures for vulnerable children across rural Uganda.
