Improving Attendance and Academic Performance
Education remains one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty among orphaned children in rural Uganda. This quarter, our project focused on improving school attendance and academic performance among supported learners.
With funding received through GlobalGiving, we supplied school materials, paid tuition fees, and provided uniforms for dozens of orphaned children. Many beneficiaries had previously missed classes because they lacked basic learning necessities. After receiving support, attendance improved significantly, and teachers reported increased participation in classroom activities.
Regular monitoring visits were conducted to schools to assess learner progress and identify additional support needs. Teachers observed that students who received educational assistance were more motivated and confident. Some children who had been struggling academically showed noticeable improvement in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Parents and guardians participated in engagement sessions where they discussed strategies for supporting children's education at home. These meetings strengthened collaboration between schools and families and encouraged greater accountability for children's learning outcomes.
The emotional well-being of beneficiaries also improved. Children expressed happiness about remaining in school alongside their peers instead of dropping out. Their stories highlight the critical role education plays in restoring hope and self-esteem.
While economic hardships continue to affect many households, donor contributions are helping vulnerable children stay on the path toward a better future. We thank our supporters for investing in education and empowering orphaned children with opportunities that can transform their lives for generations to come.
