Dear Friends,
The Bon Center has 231 orphans and other children in its care. There are 204 aged between 1 and 11 and 27 over 12 years old. These children are fortunate to be studying at the Bon Center where there education is comprehensive and holistic. The children write essays about their experiences and studies as well as the life skills they are learning. Here is one excerpt from a student essay:
“Sometimes I feel awkward meeting a stranger… but if we stop discriminating I firmly believe we can easily communicate, exchange ideas and share experiences even with the stranger…. Someone said, “Internal peace is an essential step for achieving peace in the world.” How do we cultivate that? By realizing that mankind is one and that “we are different but our blood is the same.”(M.K. Gandhi)
This writing shows that the center is teaching children to think independently, to use critical thinking and problem solving skills as they deal with the small and large problems of life and its meaning.
CHI is working towards SDG Goal 4
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Thank you for your continuing interest in the Bon people.
