Now Miguel can hear, and go to school

"All kids, all rights" it says on the wall

When we first met Miguel and his grandmother, she wished to send her grandson to school, together with his two minor siblings. But, there were two challenges: 1) they couldn’t afford the uniforms, backpacks, pencils, and toothbrushes and 2) Miguel was almost deaf in both ears.

The problems and solutions, but the family couldn’t afford any of them, on their own. The hearing aids were the whole family's budget for three months. Our educators talked to the doctor, willing to give a discount. The grandmother promised to pay 20% of the equipment, and we reached out to our network of friends and donors. Thanks to all; Miguel and his siblings are off to school! We are beyond grateful and happy, and so are one of the many families we work with.

Besides this case, we have in the last three months achieved the following:

  • 113 sessions have been carried out, where 156 girls and boys have participated.
  • Our sessions are composed of five elements; 1) working the social and emotional skills, 2) academic support and learning, 3) MAMA’s life philosophy, and 5) having lunch together.
  • 62 sessions of social and emotional skills were implemented
  • 113 sessions of academic intervention
  • 50 sessions learning about MAMA's philosophy
  • 113 playful interventions where they get to be just kids
  • 113 lunches were served, to make sure all bellies were full

We also work with the parents to support them in a chaotic and unknown social system. As a result, 73 supportive sessions have been given to parents, helping them with the following:

  • Signing their children up for school
  • Receive dental service
  • COVID-19 vaccinations registration
  • Psychological attention and health services

Now, 4 girls and boys are registered to receive their vaccination and 16 joined school!

We are beyond happy, and our hearts are about to burst!

All this is possible thanks to you, friends and support.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
