Dear project supporters,
As part of our goal to help develop the next generation of leaders, we recently helped sponsor a leadership training event thanks in part to your generous donations.
TEDxYouth@KingTom took place in Freetown, Sierra Leone on July 28, 2018. It was the first TEDx event specifically dedicated to youths in Sierra Leone. The goals of the event included fostering critical thinking, showcasing talents, and reflecting ideas that will empower young people in Sierra Leone and spur them to action. The full-day conference featured authentic and inspiring talks from 13 movers and shakers in Sierra Leone, an Art Exhibition & Musical performances from young artists, 'Networking & Activities' fair, and an innovation corner.
Through your support, we provided funds to assist with souvenirs, logistics, planning, and supplies. Develop Africa was listed as one of the sponsors.
The conference was a great success as you can see from the photos and the Twitter Feed. One participant aptly summed it up as follows:
"It was such a thrilling experience! While each speaker was unique, they all said just the right thing to motivate us to do more... to do better... if not for ourselves, for the next generation. Each talk carried its own distinct message but all together honing the fact that the future of Sierra Leone lies in our hands and we can either make it worse or make it better."
Thank you for helping to foster change. We are deeply appreciative of your on-going support- you are truly helping the future leaders of Sierra Leone. We encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation here. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org
With great appreciation,
Amy & The Develop Africa Team
