New Computer Hardware Networking Course at DASL

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Coordinator

Project Supporter,

Computer networking and hardware courses are becoming increasingly popular in universities, polytechnical institutions, postsecondary colleges, and private training institutions worldwide because of the high demand for people with computer networking and hardware skills. The DASL Computer Lab is now offering a computer hardware & networking course. The learning-by-doing approach is an essential component in courses on computer networking and hardware fundamentals.

These courses comprise various courses related to computer organization, electrical and electronics circuits. Candidates pursuing these courses also learn about the different parts of computers and how they function. The course enables them to figure out and fix hardware and network issues related to computers and other such devices.

The objective of this course is to provide the participant with much-needed knowledge of computer hardware and networking, enabling them to identify and rectify the onboard computer hardware, software, and network-related problems in Engine Room, Integrated Automation systems, Home or Small office network and Navigational equipment on Bridge.

With the help of this course, the participant will be able to understand the hardware specifications that are required to run operating systems and various shipboard application programs. Also, upgrading of existing hardware/software as and when required. The main aspect of this program is to eliminate costs for the shore technician boarding the vessel to troubleshoot, install/configure the application program, and network-related problems.

We greatly appreciate your ongoing support for the future leaders in Sierra Leone. Thanks to you, more youths and young adults are getting the computer training they need for success in today's technology-driven environment.

Our recurring donors are truly making a lasting difference for these future leaders in Sierra Leone. If you haven't had the chance to sign up for a recurring donation yet, we warmly welcome your ongoing support to continue to provide children in Sierra Leone with the educational resources they need to be the future leaders of Sierra Leone.

Please share this project with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

Warm regards,

Amy and the Develop Africa team
