Project Supporter,

On January 15, 2022, the Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) team conducted the first boys' mentoring session, which was made possible thanks in part to your generous support in 2021. Eighteen boys attended this first boys’ mentoring session. Toiletries (body cream, shower gel, spritz, shaving blade, etc.) were distributed among the mentees as a take-home package.  Transportation, food, and drinks were also provided to the boys in attendance.

Self-esteem and goal setting was the topic of the mentoring session. During the session, the speaker talked about setting personal and professional goals. He uses the SMART acronym to deliberate on effective and efficient goal-setting.

•         Definition of Self-esteem and goal setting

•         Setting up smart goals

•         Steps in setting up smart goals

•         Challenges in setting a smart goal

The guest speaker told the mentees to believe in themselves, plan their futures, and take personal responsibility for actualizing their dreams. The Mentees were divided into different groups and each group presented different goals, identified steps in setting the goals, and stated possible challenges that they could face in accomplishing their stated goals.

Your support is providing students in Sierra Leone with the educational resources they need to become the future leaders of Sierra Leone. If you haven't had the chance to sign up for a recurring donation yet, we warmly welcome your ongoing support
