Getting Ready for School Supply Distribution

By Amy M Baty-Herbert | Project Coordinator

David with his school supplies received last year

We told you in June that 27 drums full of school supplies had arrived in Sierra Leone.  These school supplies were donated from all over the world over the course of 6 months and then shipped from the Develop Africa office in Tenessee in 27drums to Maryland (where the shipping company is) and then from Maryland to Freetown, Sierra Leone.  These 27 drums are now being sorted and organized to give to 141 students in Freetown, Kamawornie, Bo, and Makeni.  The students will receive these at the end of August as they get ready to go back to school in September.

The cost of shipping 27 drums and providing the 141 students with school supplies and tuition support comes out to be approximately $104 per child or $14,556 total.

Each step of the process of getting school supplies donated, shipped to Sierra Leone, and then distributed to students is only possible because of generous donors like you!  We would greatly appreciate it if you would consider making a donation to help us reach our goal so that all 141 students get their school supplies and tuition support at the end of August.

You can make your donation here and put in the notes that it is for "School Supply Distribution"

Another great way to help us reach our goal is to share this project with your contacts and post it on social media.  Copy and paste the text below or create your own.

I support Develop Africa and invite you to help 141 students get school supplies this fall. Can you help? Go to http://goto.gg/2291 to donate.

We greatly appreciate your support!  If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

Warm regards,

Amy and the Develop Africa team
