Empowering Future Leaders through Debate Style Mentoring

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

Mattia- Best Debater
Mattia- Best Debater

Mentoring sessions play a crucial role in equipping future leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary for success. Debate style mentoring is a powerful tool in this regard, providing youth with essential skills and perspectives that prepare them for their roles as leaders and active citizens.

Mattia, a beneficiary of Develop Africa in Sierra Leone, shares his experience of a debate session on the effects of drugs on youth. In this video testimonial, Mattia expresses his gratitude for the opportunity and shares his insights from the experience.

Hello, my name is Mattia, a beneficiary of Develop Africa Sierra Leone. Today we had a debate on the topic of the effect of drugs on the youth, who is to blame the government or the drug user?

So, what did I learn from this debating competition? I learned that all of us have equal responsibility to anticipate the eradication and combating of drug abuse in Sierra Leone.

I happened to be the best debater and I’m so excited about it!  Thank you!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all donors whose contributions make these impactful mentoring sessions possible. Your ongoing support is instrumental in shaping a brighter future for Sierra Leone by empowering its youth. If you haven't already, we invite you to consider signing up for a recurring donation to continue supporting our efforts.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org if you have any questions or would like additional information.

Warm regards,

Amy and the Develop Africa team
