We’re thrilled to share a joyful and historic moment made possible thanks in part to your generous support. On June 9, 2025, Kamawornie Nursery School, established through your donations, celebrated its first-ever graduation ceremony—a proud milestone for the community and a symbol of educational progress in rural Sierra Leone.
Eight children graduated from Nursery 3, confidently ready to take the next step into primary school. For many parents and community members, this was the first graduation ceremony they had ever attended. The event drew a wide array of guests—from local leaders and teachers to members of parliament—each inspired by the transformation taking place in Kamawornie.
Graduates and younger students proudly performed rhymes, songs, and short speeches—demonstrating not only their literacy and language development, but also their growing confidence and curiosity.
During the event, two high-performing students received school backpacks and official enrollment in DASL’s scholarship program, which will continue to support them through their next stage of schooling.
This celebration was not just about academic achievement—it was a powerful display of what happens when a community is given the tools to dream, learn, and grow. Because of you, children in Kamawornie are receiving a strong start in life. You are helping raise a generation of children who will one day lead, teach, and uplift others in their communities.
From all of us at Develop Africa Sierra Leone—and from the families of Kamawornie—thank you for making this milestone a reality. Your ongoing support continues to light the path forward for children who deserve every opportunity to thrive.
With deep gratitude,
Amy & the Develop Africa Team
