As part of preparations for the Year of the Pencil Initiative, the Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) team is working hand in hand with our beneficiaries to organize and package pencils for students across the country. Together, we’re turning 100,000 pencils into 10,000 learning pouches—each one representing opportunity, empowerment, and hope.
One of the dedicated helpers in this effort is Edmond, a bright and motivated student who was thrilled to take part in this meaningful activity. Edmond’s enthusiasm reminds us that this initiative is not only about distributing pencils—it’s about involving students in shaping their own educational journey.
Edmond is in Senior Secondary School (SSS2) and his favorite subjects are Mathematics and English. His dream is to become a Lawyer one day—and we’re confident that his determination and love of learning will help him achieve it.
Thanks to your generosity, students like Edmond are gaining the tools they need to succeed. Each pencil pouch you’ve helped provide carries more than school supplies—it carries the message that education matters and that every child deserves the chance to learn.
Save the Date: November 20th — World Children’s Day!
On this special day, we’ll celebrate children everywhere by placing these pencils into the hands of 10,000 students across Sierra Leone. Together, we’ll continue building a future where every child has access to education and opportunity.
Your support is helping fuel a movement that goes beyond pencils—it’s about unlocking potential and changing lives. Thank you for being part of this journey and for believing in the power of education to transform communities.
With gratitude,
Amy & The Develop Africa Team
