Thanks in part to your generous support, 496 students at REC Primary School in Bathurst each received 10 pencils, a pencil sharpener, and a pencil pouch.
The students and staff warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing their gratitude and pledging to use the pencils for their intended purpose. For many children, having their own pencil is not guaranteed—and yet, something so small can have a life-changing impact.
This distribution at REC Primary School in Bathurst took place on November 20th, when all 100,000 pencils from the Year of the Pencil initiative were successfully distributed to 20 schools across the Freetown municipality.
This accomplishment represents more than school supplies—it represents dignity, possibility, and the belief that every child deserves the tools to learn, grow, and thrive.
For countless students in Sierra Leone, the lack of a simple pencil can prevent them from completing classwork, participating confidently, or progressing academically.
Your generosity is creating classrooms filled with hope, possibility, and opportunity.
As we continue our commitment to empowering young learners, we invite you to stay connected and keep making a difference. Together, we are building a stronger foundation for education throughout Sierra Leone—one pencil at a time.
Thank you for your kindness, your belief in these children, and your partnership in creating brighter futures.
With gratitude,
