Project Report | Nov 28, 2025
Tower Hill Primary School Received 7,260 Pencils

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

Thanks in part to your generous support, more young learners in Sierra Leone now have the tools they need to thrive.

We are excited to share that 776 pupils at Tower Hill Infant Primary School benefited from the Year of the Pencil initiative. Each child received a learning pouch — totaling 776 pouches and 7,260 pencils — generously provided through Develop Africa’s distribution efforts.

The students and staff expressed heartfelt gratitude and pledged to make full use of the learning tools they received. For many children in Sierra Leone, owning even a single pencil is not guaranteed — and yet, this simple item can make a profound difference in a child’s ability to participate in class, complete assignments, and build confidence in their learning.

These distributions took place on November 20th as part of the larger milestone in which all 100,000 pencils from the Year of the Pencil initiative were successfully delivered to 20 schools across the Freetown municipality.

Together, we are building a stronger foundation for learning throughout Sierra Leone — one pencil at a time.

Thank you for your kindness, your belief in these children, and your partnership in creating brighter futures.

With gratitude,
Amy & the Develop Africa Team
