The Sierra Leone Team Visits Isaiah's Home

By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Leader

Recently, the Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) team visited one of our beneficiaries, Isaiah.  In this video, you can see where Isaiah lives and the surrounding village.

Isaiah is 11 years old and currently in Class Six at Rural Education Community Primary School in Bathurst village. Each day, he walks a long distance to and from school. The journey is not easy, but Isaiah remains committed to his education.

When our team arrived, Aminata from Develop Africa Sierra Leone shared, “As usual, we visit our beneficiaries, and this is Isaiah. We came to visit him today to check on his well-being. His family are not too okay. This surrounding and this community is not hygienic for Isaiah. His school is all the way down and he has to walk to school every day, to and from.”

Isaiah lives in a challenging environment where sanitation and basic living conditions are difficult.  Yet despite these hardships, Isaiah shows resilience and hope.

When asked about himself, he shared, “Hi, my name is Isaiah. I am attending the Rural Education Community Primary School, Bathurst village. I am eleven years old.”

Because of donors like you, Isaiah is able to remain in school and have access to learning materials. Education is more than lessons in a classroom; it is a brighter future for students like Isaiah.

Thank you for standing with Isaiah and with students like him across Sierra Leone. You are making a difference.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Amy & the Develop Africa Team
