Seema, 18, has been blind since she was 5. She goes to a special school for the blind, but usually doesn't interact very often with girls her age who are not blind.
"This ceremony is so much fun," she tells us, her voice youthful and buoyant, almost like a young child, "It's worth waiting for my turn as this is a treat for us."
A scholarship winner, Seema has earned her spot in the Educate a Girl Pakistan programme based on merit and her passion to communicate, but the amount with which she is enjoying the Award ceremony makes her win a real treat for all of us!
It's an emotional day, at the same time, especially as the girls are escorted to receive their certificate and their vulnerability is paramount and their courage truly inspiring.
"Today, is just the start," adds Seema. "I'm a winner today, but of an opportunity. The real work and the real opportunity starts once I start my course!"
Thank you, Donors, so much for enabling us to transform the lives of girls like Seema. We could not be doing with without you.
Please do spread the word. We have 115 more Educate a Girl scholarships to fund in Pakistan.
