EMERGING DESIGNERS TACKLE TEXTILE WASTE AMID GROWING GLOBAL URGENCY

By Hannah Lane | Partnerships Director at Redress

Dear valued donors,

The Redress Design Awardis celebrating 12 years of reducing fashion’s textile waste  through the education and promotion of emerging designers. We recently announced the 2022 cycle’s First Prize winner, Federico Badini Confalonieri from Italy, who is now working on a sustainable design project with Timberland. Explore our finalists and  winners here.

“The whole fashion industry and academia must take educating designers seriously," says Christina Dean, Founder of Redress. “From our base in Hong Kong, we’ve educated in several different languages thousands of designers globally, whom we consider more as activists than artists. As we look forward, we increasingly look to double up on efforts to access more Asian countries, which are home to the world’s greatest apparel production bases and consumption markets.”

Following their runway debut, the 2022 finalists’ and selected alumni brands’ collections were displayed at Hong Kong’s ArtisTree. Guests were invited to virtually try on the displayed outfits using augmented reality (AR) filters on Snapchat, educating public consumers on advances in digital fashion. The fun continues in our digital showroom here.

Please donate here to continue supporting our work in propelling the next generation into a circular future for fashion. Thank you!
