Dear valued donors,
The Redress Design Award 2023, the 13th cycle of the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, is now open for applications! The programme continues to educate and invite aspiring designers globally to vie for the career-changing prizes, including a sustainable design collaboration with one of the world’s largest apparel, footwear, and accessories companies, VF Corporation.
“Whilst the fashion industry has grappled with many challenging Covid-related supply chain impacts and a challenging economy, we can’t ignore fashion’s worsening environmental and waste crisis,” said Dr. Christina Dean, Founder of Redress, at a prominent industry gathering of fashion leaders with global influence, which kicked off the competition in Hong Kong on 11 January. “Together with emerging designers, academia, business, and government, we have great power to accelerate a circular fashion industry globally.”
Our Redress Design Award Pathway Course, which explores circular fashion design strategies and techniques, has re-launched with a new module on “Fibre Choices and Sustainability”. Applicants to the Redress Design Award will enjoy extended access to course material until 16 March 2023, when the application period closes.
The competition invites emerging fashion designers to pursue their dreams in the community, being supported in their careers by their fellow designers and forging friendships along the way. Those who make it to the semi-finals or beyond will join the Redress Design Award Alumni Network, which now boastsover 270 alumni from 45 countries. From launching their own sustainable brands to working with global brands, our alumni are pushing the circular fashion movement forward from all corners of the global fashion industry.
Your continued support enables us to continue to create a meaningful impact. With the 2023 cycle currently underfunded, every donation is critical and welcomed with thanks as we work to reaching our education goals.
Thank you for supporting us in reaching wider audiences with our educational activities.
