Kasia Mthembu, our vibrant 19-month-old, has embarked on her first educational adventure into the world of pre-school - Little Legends, Salt Rock, KZN. Her infectious spirit of curiosity and wonder are bright and alive! Despite being the youngest member of the 19-student classroom, Kasia has quickly found her place. This report offers a glimpse into Kasia's journey so far in entering a nurturing environment that has fast become become a second home.

Teacher Lauren and Teacher Trin are her biggest attraction and it was interesting to hear her first articulated English word was, “teechah”. There is an innate understanding of both English and Zulu allowing her to communicate and connect with her peers in meaningful ways. Here she is celebrated for her individuality and welcomed with open arms.

The outdoor playground is where she delights the most. The school day starts off with her sweetly greeting the sheep, chickens and snoozing pigs as she walks up to the classroom. Drawn to gate latches and other mechanical gadgets, she finds joy in the simple act of opening and closing doors, eagerly ushering her friends into the world of play. She loves the trampoline and is not frightened by a bit of unexpected chaos should an older child run on and jumping at the same time.

Kasia’s love for books is becoming evident but more so to eagerly turns the pages at this point. Her eyes light up with wonder at each new discovery. A grasp of the narrative is still developing, but her enthusiasm for books is a testament to her growing love for learning.

She is an only child, so no stranger to solitary play. It's joy to watch her warming up and joining in the communal activities. The best moments of her morning are during song ring and little interactive games.

While it may be too early to pinpoint Kasia's specific strengths, her love for school and a boundless curiosity suggest a bright future ahead. (“Wow” being her most used word).

As she continues to blossom and grow, Little Legends Pre-school serves as a nurturing foundation upon which her potential can flourish.

We very much appreciate your support of Kasia and her successors providing an opportunity to reach the stars.
