Outdoor physical activities and sport are a doorway for development - physically, emotionally and cognitively. They are also a way to release energy and anger. Sport teaches discipline, concentration and teamwork.
With the support of Trollope Mining Services and their partners, Thabang received a beautiful multi-sports court. This is a huge spoiling for the children who love it and use it for a variety of physical activities.
Michael, a local tennis-coach volunteers to teach tennis and ball skills. The children love this and even the younger children get involved.
Soccer matches against each other and outside community children also take place. This gives the children opportunity to explore their sporting talents and to learn how to play with a team. They also learn to have patience with others and become team-players.
Arts and crafts outside is also fun! Cutting, sticking and colouring! Some children come to the centre and have never had the simple opportunity to do this.
More outside activites in the new veg tunnel- learning to plant and nurture vegetables, is a good life-skill for everyone! This tunnel was kindly donated by the Carter family. It provides shade from the harsh Thabazimbi sun while it protects the vegetables also from the local monkeys. It also protects the vegetables from the biting winter frosts.
Even learning to cook in big pots over an outside fire, is fun and an enlightening experience.
