Back to School

The year has come and moved briskly for all here at Thabang Children’s Project. We are grateful to all that have pitched in and helped along the way.

Thank you very much.

After spending the school holidays with foster parents, guardians, family and people who cared enough to open their doors to host them the children came back well and in high spirits and started school on a high note. Two children moved up to high school.

Two of the boys were able to seat for their learners licence exams and pass at the first time of asking and a currently attending driving school.

The year so far has been filled with plenty of highlights. On the 27th February 2016 the Project took part in a family run were 32 in house children and 8 from the Drop in Centre with members of staff all joined the community at the Marakele National Park and run/ walked the 5km loop. An event we look forward to every year and appreciate the people that pitch in to provide the necessary tickets.

Our Marimba Band has become a national sensation, being invited to play at all sorts of places and events that vary from weddings to year end parties, company ceremonies and restaurant promotions. We can be contacted at admin@thabang.org for details. Unfortunately we have to turn down invitations from too far as travel costs become prohibitive. The children have enjoyed the growth in opportunity, and the chances to see far off places, and the weddings. We have enjoyed seeing the new members morph with the Band.

The extra lessons have been upped this year with the concept being employed twice a month at the Drop in Centre with results being event in the progress that most children have shown in their results from first term. Thanks to Pastor Bongwe and the Christ Holy Meeting Centre for the stationery they donated at the beginning of the year.

Unfortunately with life there is also lows which for us come in the form of children that are chronically ill and have to receive medication constantly. An eye is kept on their health and with the constant love that we are able to shower upon them their health has always on the up. The CD4 blood count supports this assertion and we pray that one day they can be totally off the drugs.

Our efforts to uplift the lives of our children are still on going and we are grateful for all the guidance and support we can get. If you have an idea on how we can do something better please email it to us at admin@thabang.org you can also subscribe to our quarterly newsletter at www.thabang.org/newsletter
