Education Access through the Impacted Learning Pillar

By Umme Hamdani | Lead - Strategy Operations & Development

Under the education component of Khel, we have introduced a new Impacted Learning Pillar to support children who remain out of school and disconnected from formal learning. Many of these children spend their days on the streets, not because of a lack of ability or interest, but because their parents are unable or unwilling to enroll them in school due to structural barriers, financial pressures or limited awareness of the long term value of education.

Through this new pillar, Khel is actively identifying and engaging children who have never attended school or who have been out of school for years. Our team conducts regular outreach in the surrounding community, speaking to families, building trust and encouraging them to allow their children to join a safe, nurturing learning space where they can grow without fear or judgment.

Once children are enrolled, we provide a safe space for activity based foundational learning that helps them develop literacy, numeracy, communication skills, curiosity and confidence. Each child receives personalised support that helps them transition from an unpredictable environment on the streets to a structured space where learning becomes enjoyable and meaningful.

The aim of the Impacted Learning Pillar is not only to teach academic skills but to give every child a chance to reclaim their childhood within a safe and supportive environment. This allows them to discover their potential, build healthy routines and eventually transition into formal or bridge education pathways. This component has already begun to create visible change by bringing severely marginalised children into a space where they are valued, included and protected.

Your support enables us to reach the most vulnerable learners and ensure that no child is left behind simply because they were born into difficult circumstances.
